NOW IS THE TIME FOR COURAGE
Withering is not an option. These are your fierce years.
I have a confession.
I’m tired.
Tired of watching women my age wither.
Play small.
Cloak themselves in oversized black t-shirts and (gasp) pajama pants.
I’m tired of the giving in -
To days spent tolerating jobs they hate.
To nights lost in drinking and binge-watching Netflix.
It’s a waste.
Right now might be the most free, the most fit, the most you that you’ll ever be again.
The good ole days? They’re happening now.
These are the youth of your elder years (or should I say second act?).
These are the years for bold moves, brave hearts, and showing up for ourselves so that our much older selves can say:
“Damn. That kid was fierce.”
as she stares into her even older but still badass reflection.
“By the time we get smart enough to understand how young we are at forty, fifty, or sixty, we’ll be seventy, eighty, or ninety.” - Barbara Sher
Last weekend, I went to my daughter’s wedding social (a pre-wedding fundraiser, for those of you outside of Winnipeg) in this dress. And I had a fabulous time dancing the night away with family and friends.
But what if I had convinced myself I was too old?
Too old to dress up?
Too old to feel fabulous?
Too old to move with wild abandon?
SO WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW?
I get it. You want that feeling - the joy, the connection - but don’t know where to start.
So here’s what you do:
Take one small step.
One teeny-tiny move in the direction your heart wants to go.
And then another.
Every. Damn. Day.
And one day, you’ll wake up and realize you’ve become the woman you always wanted to be.
You might even laugh that you ever lived any other way.
Not sure what your next tiny step is? I’ve got your back.
💃 THE STRUT CHALLENGE
I believe in the power of movement.
Movement builds momentum.
Movement tells your brain:
“I AM a woman of action. When I say ‘go’ we go.”
So here’s your challenge:
✨ Move your body for at least 5 minutes a day for the next 7 days.
Walk, dance, stretch, strut…whatever gets you going.
Schedule those 5 minutes.
Set a timer.
Put a dang sticker in your calendar when you complete it. (Yes, stickers are still cool!)
Too simple?
Too small?
Good. That’s the point.
Small actions sneak past resistance. (It’s a sneaky little bugger.)
