Am I Too Old for This?
Am I Too Old for This?
These were the first words that poured out of my client’s mouth when we first met.
Fear. Doubt. Longing.
After decades of doing all the right things - being loyal to a single employer, putting her family first - she now wanted something more. Something just for her.
But… was it too late?
She wondered if her wants were silly. Self-indulgent, even.
Every time I think of that conversation, and the many I’ve had with women at this stage of life, here’s what I want to say:
Is ageism real? You bet.
Will it all work out? I have no idea.
Should you go for it even though you’re scared? Hell yes.
There’s an energy that comes from being interested in your life.
It builds momentum.
It fuels enthusiasm.
And it carries you into fabulous new adventures you never imagined.
All it takes is one small step.
One moment of curiosity.
One brave “what if?”
And then another.
Next week, I’m heading to Toronto for my next adventure - a fitness convention. It’s the first time I’ll be engaging with my fitness instructor community since an injury (and then a pandemic!) derailed my ability to teach.
Will I be a fish out of water? Will it be the experience I hope it will be? Will I be able to connect with others as I have in the past? I have no idea!
But…I’m curious to find out. It’s my kind of fun and that’s what matters. It’s my next brave “what if?” because this season of life is too precious for cowardice. Sitting on the sidelines is not an option.
So here’s my challenge to you:
Start small. Start easy.
The biggest challenge isn’t starting something hard, it’s breaking the habit of not starting at all.
Answer this:
“I’ve always thought _______ would be fun.”
Then take one teeny tiny step toward it in the next 24 hours.
Message me and tell me what you did. I’d love to cheer you on!
Oh, and, by the way…you are not too old for this.
💙Anna

Running kids or adults groups would be fun… I started to look for places that I could run small groups in Wpg.
